Collective Fortune was born out of the interest of finding collaborations and research opportunities with fellow artists and designers; but also with organisations and professionals of other fields that are interested in exploring with design and artistic methods.
Originally, the name Collective Fortune was coined by Yénika Castillo from experiments with Food design and the opportunities they offered of coming together playfully to challenge social norms. Thus, an instagram profile was created to support the documentation and conversation around them.
Eventually, other collaboration opportunities began to appear, giving a new meaning to this name: Collective Fortune is now developing into a platform for cocreation. So far, the interests of these collaborations are on the fields of visual and multimedia arts, performing arts, design (social, urban, interactive, food, product) and writing. Topics that we are exploring are: Critical & decolonial thinking, embodied practices, speculative design, pluriversality, migration/migrant stories and sustainability.
Mainly, Yénika is the weaver of this network, but hopefully in the near future, more people are involved more constantly. So far, there had been collaborations with curator Anni Reponen and artists at STPLN lab (Malmö), thinking together with Musikcentrum Syd (Malmö), and currently with performer Stefan Andersson.
